Founded in late 2016, Liger Mobility began with a singular mission — to make two-wheelers safer, smarter, and more comfortable for everyone.
The name Liger draws inspiration from the rare hybrid of a lion and a tiger — known for its power, balance, and dominance as the largest in the cat family. Similarly, Liger’s Auto-Balancing Scooter combines the agility and convenience of a two-wheeler with the safety and stability traditionally associated with four-wheelers.

The Vision Begins

2017
Early Recognition & Support
- Awarded the Idea Stage Grant by SINE – IIT Bombay and the Department of Science & Technology (DST).
- Lays the foundation for innovation with early-stage funding to develop core AutoBalancing technology.
2019
Research & Development
- Focused on intensive research and prototyping.
- Collaborated with industry mentors from ARAI and Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) to refine technology and product direction.
2020
National Spotlight
- Liger showcased to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) during Startup India’s RAISE 2020 event.
- Early concept video goes viral with over 5 million views globally, generating massive public and industry interest.

A graduate from IIT Kharagpur, Ashutosh has vigorous hands-on experience of building products and ventures across diverse technologies and segments. Before co-founding Liger Mobility, he built multiple ventures and worked with global organizations such as Airbus, Tata Consulting Engineers, Valmet, Atkins, Infosys across India and Europe.
